Patients First subsidiary Conporto Health has released an upgrade to its hMael email service for healthcare, allowing customers to send secure emails to non-hMael users.
It has also recently released an event detection and mitigation (EDM) service that its says can provide real-time notifications and alerts to GPs about patients at high risk of medical mismanagement due to poly-pharmacy and co-morbidities.
hMael version 3.5 also includes layout changes to simplify the mailbox using pop-out menus and a rich-text editor to format text.
There are also improvements to its Outlook plug-in to allow quick-access shortcuts, and Live Chat has been rebuilt to allow users to start an instant-message conversation from the inbox without opening a new tab.
The new functionality to send messages to non-hMael users works by selecting ‘Non-hMael User’ in the directory and entering the recipient’s email address.
The recipient will be sent an email inviting them to set a password to access and respond to the hMael message.
Patients First CEO Helmut Modlik said a recent trial of the EDM service in 92 practices showed it could pick up 200 potentially harmful events, mainly related to medication management.
The not-for-profit is currently developing a notification version for use in secondary care, he said.
