Biometrics Provides Questionable Protection

A recent report by Ars Technica suggests that in the US at least, using biometrics to allow access to your data may not be as good as simple passwords.

Aside from the obvious problem that fingerprints can be obtained without your knowledge or consent by nefarious parties, your obligation to provide such physical attributes to law enforcement agencies may weaken your right to protect your information.

This analysis is based on US law and precident but it provides some food for thought about whether biometrics are worth their convenience to protect your data.
